Hey Friends!!
It has been almost TWO months since we ditched our trailer, rented an apartment, and moved to San Jose. I can not believe it has been this long already. I wanted to give you all the deets on what is happening in our lives now.
So far San Jose has been great to us. There is so much to do here which is so nice for the kids and I while Cody is working, and days he has off we have gotten the chance to explore a bit. The kids and I have been able to go to splash pads, parks, etc. We are so close to Santa Cruz that we got to take a day trip as a family there. This is one thing I love about getting to travel for my husbands job, we are always in new areas getting to explore new places. The fourth of July we stayed here and enjoyed San Jose’s many events for the day just the four of us. If you are near this area, or have any favorites that you recommend before we get booted out of here I want to hear them. Santa Cruz, San Jose, Monterey, and San Francisco area. We are really looking forward to a day at the Monterey bay aquarium, and possibly some more time in Santa Cruz.
Lets chat about ditching the trailer and living in an apartment. Can I just say that trailer life is HARD. I am so freaking grateful for a dishwasher. My house seems immaculate all the time compared to the trailer… when one single toy was on the ground in the trailer it felt like such a clutter. My boys are able to have their space which is my favorite part of it all. I felt like the first few days they didn’t realize they were able to just play in their own room. In the trailer their play space was either outside, or in the main living. Don’t get me wrong they loved that trailer, Dekker still asks if we could go back occasionally and I love that so much. Life just seems like it flows better for everyone.
So, whats next for this Smith clan?! I get asked this so much. We actually only signed a 3 month lease, which means we more than likely will be moving come September. Call us crazy!!! It would be a little scary signing another 3 month lease, but we are definitely going to have to reevaluate things when it gets a little closer. Our number one reason for getting this was the lack of availability in the parks for our trailer, so we have talked about moving back into it. The peek season of summer will be over.. which means hopefully more availability at some parks. We only have about 7 months until we will be in a more permanent location where we will be out of the trailer forever, so moving back in for a short period of time does not seem bad and may be our best option. Living not knowing when you are going to be moved is SCARY when you have a lease on an apartment which is why we’ve been in the trailer during this time. My guess is that we will get placed in one other location before we are done with this traveling gig.
I am SO excited to see what is next for us! Since we only have 7 months left… the talk of where the heck we will want to move is in our daily discussions, and I will definitely get back to you on that since it changes so often
