Beating the January Gloom

January can be an odd month with the gloomy weather and the after holiday “hangover”. Anyone else deal with this?! I was definitely feeling a little bleh after New Years, so I am sharing some ways to get motivated for the new years, and get out of the January gloom funk.

Move Anytime I am feeling unmotivated exercise always gets me going. Go for a walk, go to the gym, or do a work out in your home if its raining outside. Getting you body moving is going to make you feel more accomplished and ready to take on more things you have been wanting to do.

Self love One thing that always makes me feel better is truly doing something for myself. What is something small that makes you feel better? Take a bath, read a book, write, get your nails done, or grab a  coffee. Making time in the morning to get ready even if that means letting your kids watch tv while you put yourself together.. do it! Making time to do something a little extra for yourself is going to make you feel good.

Organize If you are anything like me my brain cant function with messy around me. It is hard for me to sit down with clutter around me. Organizing and cleaning is therapeutic to me, I know there are some of you out there that are the same. I want my space to be stress free always, but don’t get me wrong my house is not always clean but it makes me feel SO much better when it is. Pick a organizing task like your pantry, fridge, or closet. Throw away old food, give away clothes you don’t wear, and buy cheap organizers that will make going into these spaces better.

Make a List This goes on with organization, but I am a huge list person. Almost daily a make a list on the back of an envelope or oil piece of mail and jot everything down I want to try and get done. It is so rewarding crossing things off your list even if it is the simplest task

Podcast Something that I love to do is listen to podcast. There are SO many great ones. Motivational ones, funny light hearted, you name it and there is a podcast. If you aren’t a reader this is a great one to get your mind out of a funk. You can do this while you take a bath, organize, or even driving to work to start your day off right.

Take care of yourselves friends!
