What you should start doing every night in your twenties!

As you guys know I am super passionate about skincare. Being that I am turning 25( I feel old), It is so important to take care of your skin. Before I went to esthetician school all I really cared about was my skin being clear. Now seeing how much more there is to it, I have invested in my skin and I am so glad that I did and still do. There is so much that goes into play when dealing with skin issues. From what you ingest, wearing sunscreen, and what your daily skin routine looks like. Your skin is so important!

It is never too early to get on the under eye cream band wagon. You hit your 20’s and you definitely should be investing in a good cream. That is why I have started using VII codes T2 Oxygen Eye Cream. Leaving me with less fine lines. wrinkles, and my dark circles are less visible. After using this cream almost three weeks ago I started to see such a big difference in my undereye appearance. This mom has been going to the gym at 5 am, and then being a mommy all day is hard. This cream has made my dark circles so much lighter, and feels amazing when I put it on.  Not only does VII code have under eye cream, but they also have under eye masks that are always fun and relaxing to do.

The sooner you start using eye cream, even before you see any fine lines, the better your long term results are going to be. Your best results are going to come from prevention with VII codes oxygen eye cream. I use mine every night before I go to bed, and I promise you won’t regret it if you start to too. Check out  http://www.viicode.comto see what amazing products they have. I am loving this eye cream so much.

Dealing with kids during a move

I never imagined to be traveling around when I had a family. Making different spaces our home. Making memories, and building a life quit literally on the road.

In the past 3 years we have made a totally new town our new home 9 times. 9 times we moved, adjusted, and settled in 3 years. I’m writing this down and even more flabbergasted then I went into thinking about jotting my thoughts down. Some of these moves were big ones, others were small, but each one we’ve had to figure out our new normal.

In the past year we’ve had to explain to our oldest that we are moving.. again. Haha. This was super confusing for him to process, but we always remind him that our family is his home. How grateful he is to have a house, and always find something that we know he will love about the new place. This past move.. his excitement was all about him getting his very own bathroom. Yep, he was stoked!! Pretty funny my 3 year old would love something like that.

Remind him that it’s okay to miss the old, but something to be excited about is good! Change is good!! Good things will happen in our new home as well, but letting them be sad about the old is okay.

After we get settled I like to dive in and make memories. Find things the boys will love that could be a weekly thing. We have a park right by us and making them familiar with that has been a plus. I think this really helps my boys get excited for our new home.

Every move I keep everything I can the exact same. Schedules never change. Even their space, the first thing I do every time is set up their space first, because I always want them comfortable and feeling right at home.

This move to Santa Rosa, I could tell Dekker was having a hard time moving the first week, this was our first move from an apartment to another apartment. I’ve stuck to all these things and we have gotten over that hump thank goodness.  Home is where your heart is around here! Cody told Dekker that this weekend and he kept that in his mind and sweetly came and said it to me and my heart just exploded.

Another Move!

Surprise surprise we are moving!!!

Three months ago we made the decision to move out of our trailer, and into an apartment in San Jose.  We could not find anywhere to park, so this was really our only option. We knew that we would probably end up back in it, but we wanted to all be together so the apartment was the solution. I actually did not mind San Jose, minus the traffic, where we were located was nice. I think I mostly loved it because we had space that we haven’t had in three years. We got to get a king bed, a dishwasher, a big tv, all of that is so materialistic but it was so nice to have these things. For the first time in 3 years we wanted to stay home, rather than before, the second we had a free day we would race to our parents house.

Our three months was up and my husband was being moved yards… it worked out perfectly. We were faced with the decision again to go back in the trailer or find a new apartment or home. I was more into going back in the trailer, only because I know it’s temporary, but Cody was pretty set on not going back in it right now. Unlike our other moves of having about three days we didn’t have any heads up, because it was with the same company.

We officially signed on a new place in Santa Rosa, CA and are very happy about this move. Like always we don’t know how long we will be here, but Cody will be done with the apprenticeship come February-April. We actually haven’t decided if we are going to sign another 3 month or do month to month, so we have about two weeks until our move in to decide that.

We are so excited to explore Santa Rosa, and have new memories in our new home. If anyone has any recommendations you know I always love to hear them.

Teaching your kid kindness

First off, I am obsessing over these back to school photos everyone has been posting. It makes me think about when I am going to have to send my babes off to do their thing. I can not even imagine what my feelings are going to be when the day comes.

Recently I have been thinking about what the number one thing I would always want to teach my boys. Mainly because we have encountered a few different situations recently that I would be mortified if my child acted the way some of these kids did toward my son. Obviously no child is perfect, they aren’t always going to get along with everyone, and everyone has their bad days.

Dekker is so social to everyone and I love that about him. He wants to be everyone’s friend. He is so tender hearted. Whether you are 2 or 60, Dekker calls you his friend. I hope he is always like this. Never giving up and becoming a friend to everyone he meets.

These situations he was in was him going up to kids and saying his name, “ hi, I’m dekker” wanting to engage and these kids LITERALLY saying we are not friends with you. As my son is trying to play and telling me, “ mom these are my friends”. It hurts seeing my boy put himself out there to be shut down repeatedly but he doesn’t even realize the mean out there yet.  As he gets older he will start being more aware of these things, and all you can do is help him navigate that.

Someday he will build solid friendships in the near future, but i am hopeful he will show kindness to everyone. No matter what I will continue to teach him to be kind to everyone not only by telling him every.single.day., but I hope I can show him in my daily actions. Kids notice everything, they take everything in, and they mimic what they are around.

Don’t get me wrong… I’ve made many mistakes in my life, I’ve been mean towards my peers, and said things I wish I wouldn’t have. Dekker has pushed his brother, stolen a toy from others, but these kids are learning so don’t give up on teaching them kindness. I know I will never stop teaching my boys to be kind and welcoming towards others.

One and a half year old UPDATE!

I am a couple days behind, but Kanon Gane is one and a half. He is quite the firecracker. His big cheesy smile is my absolute favorite. These last six months I swear this kid has split his lip open more than any child out there. He is definitely going to be my accident prone child. My husband has broken SO many bones through out his life, and so when I had Dekker his family friends always joked about Dekker being wild like his daddy… we had not seen wild until Kanon came that is for sure. I am in trouble with this one.

Kanon is such a daddy’s boy. The second dad comes home he is attached to him. It is pretty cute, and Cody definitely caves into all Kanons wants. Not that Cody doesn’t have a soft spot for Dekker, but he LOVES that Kanon is so obsessed with him.

These past six months we spent 4 nights in the hospital with three different virus’ and dehydration. Such a hard thing to watch our little guy go through that. He has been loving swimming and enjoying the pool. He finally is at the point where he will play with his big brother… wrestling is a favorite around here. He loves to dance, play with any ball (even an apple will do), and destroy anything his brother builds. He may be only 20 pounds but he is full of life. We adore his personality. Quiet and shy, but once he warms up to you he is a ball of joy.

Fav food:  Any snack & eggs.

New Words: “Oh Yeah”  all day long.

Fav toy: ball and dinosaurs

Side note- At Kanons last check up.. I mentioned to the doctor about how bow legged he is. He said at his 2 year check up we will know if they are going to get better or he will need surgery. Dekker was a little bow legged.. most babies are, but Kanon’s are a little more extreme. Curious if anyone has a little one that was still very bow legged at 1 and a half and if it got better by 2.

Life Update!

Hey Friends!!

It has been almost TWO months since we ditched our trailer, rented an apartment, and moved to San Jose. I can not believe it has been this long already. I wanted to give you all the deets on what is happening in our lives now.

So far San Jose has been great to us. There is so much to do here which is so nice for the kids and I while Cody is working, and days he has off we have gotten the chance to explore a bit. The kids and I have been able to go to splash pads, parks, etc. We are so close to Santa Cruz that we got to take a day trip as a family there. This is one thing I love about getting to travel for my husbands job, we are always in new areas getting to explore new places. The fourth of July we stayed here and enjoyed San Jose’s many events for the day just the four of us. If you are near this area, or have any favorites that you recommend before we get booted out of here I want to hear them. Santa Cruz, San Jose, Monterey, and San Francisco area. We are really looking forward to a day at the Monterey bay aquarium, and possibly some more time in Santa Cruz.

Lets chat about ditching the trailer and living in an apartment. Can I just say that trailer life is HARD. I am so freaking grateful for a dishwasher.  My house seems immaculate all the time compared to the trailer… when one single toy was on the ground in the trailer it felt like such a clutter. My boys are able to have their space which is my favorite part of it all. I felt like the first few days they didn’t realize they were able to just play in their own room. In the trailer their play space was either outside, or in the main living. Don’t get me wrong they loved that trailer, Dekker still asks if we could go back occasionally and I love that so much. Life just seems like it flows better for everyone.

So, whats next for this Smith clan?! I get asked this so much. We actually only signed a 3 month lease, which means we more than likely will be moving come September. Call us crazy!!! It would be a little scary signing another 3 month lease, but we are definitely going to have to reevaluate things when it gets a little closer. Our number one reason for getting this was the lack of availability in the parks for our trailer, so we have talked about moving back into it. The peek season of summer will be over.. which means hopefully more availability at some parks. We only have about 7 months until we will be in a more permanent location where we will be out of the trailer forever, so moving back in for a short period of time does not seem bad and may be our best option. Living not knowing when you are going to be moved is SCARY when you have a lease on an apartment which is why we’ve been in the trailer during this time. My guess is that we will get placed in one other location before we are done with this traveling gig.

I am SO excited to see what is next for us! Since we only have 7 months left… the talk of where the heck we will want to move is in our daily discussions, and I will definitely get back to you on that since it changes so often
